Skip Hire Permits
Road Permits are useful is you have no driveway or provate land in which to place the skip. You may even decide that you simply do not want a skip on your driveway and therefore would prefer it on the road to allow you to dispose of your waste away from your property. It could be a new housing project that does not have a driveway or nearby private land. Any skip that needs placing on council land will need a road permit.
Please note that Road Permits do require an extra cost and can depending upon your local council, take upto 10 working days to organise. You are not permitted to place a skip on road without a permit unless the road is privately owned. Most roads are owned and maintained by your local council.
Getting the right skip for the job
Choosing the right skip for your project can be a tricky task, especially if you have not hired a skip before. The amount and type of waste you are removing will affect the size of skip that you should select. Waste types, such as brick, rubble, soil or hardcore are classed as heavy waste and as a general rule skips larger than 8 yards are NOT suitable as skip lorries will be not be able to lift skips larger than 8 yards that contain heavy waste types.
For lighter waste such as metal, wood and cardboard any skip size is suitable. Our skips can be used for all sorts of projects from home renovation works to garden and home clearances.
As a skip Hirer you MUST NOT:
- Move the skip from its delivery position
- Overload the skip (additional charges may be made). Waste must not exceed the height of the skip.
- Interfere or change the mechanism of the skip
- Add or attach any signage or advertising to the skip
- Leave any prohibited items in the skip (see list above)
- Compact waste, such as soil or clay, as this could make the skip too heavy to pick up.
- Set or light fire to the waste in your skip
- Let waste exceed the height of the skip

In order to dispose of the materials above, you are required to contact your local council to seek further advice. They can advise you on how to remove and dispose of items that are not accepted in a skip such as those classed as hazardous or other waste types such as food or oil based waste.
